Our wedding will be performed in the Ceremony Room in the grounds of Darver Castle.
Wet your whistle in the Castle Drawing Room while we say cheese in the garden.
Dinner will be served in the Castle Ballroom. Please shout if you're violently allergic to anything.
Some people will say some words - we'll try and keep them brief!
We welcome our evening guests with a Cèilidh 🎶 - please note: may involve group participation!
We hear Cèilin' is hungry work so a timely refuel will be provided.
To the dancefloor - let's see your shapes! 💃
Back on the bus, make no fuss - have you no homes to go to? 😉
Darver Castle is a 12th century fortified tower and manor house nestled in the countryside of County Louth, approx. 4 miles outside the town of Dundalk.
On the east coast of Ireland, it is roughly 45 miles from either Belfast to the north or Dublin to the south though Dublin Airport is likely to be the more convenient.
Address: Readypenny, Dundalk, Co.Louth, Ireland, A91 RDX2
SatNav co-ordinates: N53° 55.686' W006° 27.865'
If you're planning on staying over, we recommend one of two options.
1. Oakwood Cottages, Darver
There is limited accommodation available for our guests in Oakwood Cottages located just outside the main castle entrance approximately stumbling distance from Darver Castle.
These cottages contain 12 double en-suite rooms & there is a lobby area with tea and coffee facilities.
Breakfast is served the next morning in the Grain-store Restaurant at Darver Castle.
One of the rooms is a large family room which will accomodate three adults.
To enquire about the Guest Cottages, please contact Darver Castle directly;
2. The Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dundalk
We expect the majority of guests will stay in The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dundalk, only 4 miles away.
The Crowne Plaza provides a shuttle bus to & from Darver Castle on the day of the wedding.
This will leave from outside The Crowne Plaza Hotel on the afternoon of the wedding at approximately 2.30pm sharp to ensure guests arrive in time for the ceremony starting at 3pm.
The bus will then be on hand from around midnight to make trips back over to the hotel as required.
If you are planning on staying in The Crowne Plaza - mention "McGee Wedding" when booking to avail of the special rate offered to our guests.
We also plan to stay in the The Crowne Plaza, Dundalk on the night after our wedding - Friday 30th Sept. If you fancy continuing the high jinx, we'd love you to join us.
The Crowne Plaza boasts a roof-top restaurant with panoramic views of the surrounding Cooley Mountains & Peninsula. We've also heard The Stout is tip-top.
No formalities required — just rock up with your good craic trousers on!
